Entrevista CEO

In a special InvestorIntel interview, Publisher Tracy Weslosky speaks with Chris Reed, Managing Director of Neometals Ltd. (ASX: NMT) about the +347% rise in share price in 2015, being one of the leaders in the junior lithium market and more on the offtake partner and equity partner deal with China’s leading lithium producer Ganfeng. They also discuss Chris’s upcoming keynote presentation in Toronto on May 10-11th at the 5th Annual Cleantech & Technology Metals Summit and how the electrification of transport mandate in China has caught the lithium market in a short position.
Tracy Weslosky: You’re basically the leader in the lithium market right now. You’ve come such a long way in a short period of time. Let me just start by congratulating you on being up +347% last year.
Chris Reed: Thank you very much. I just have to correct that we’re probably one of the leaders in the junior lithium market. We’re not yet a producer, but looking forward to joining the ranks very soon.

Tracy Weslosky: Well, yes and thank you for clarifying that. I’d like to congratulate you on rewarding your shareholders. You’ve just recently done a return to shareholders and an on-market share buyback. I’d love it if you’d start by telling our InvestorIntel audience how they’ll be rewarded by being a shareholder at Neometals.
Chris Reed: In Neometals we’ve taken the opportunity and needed to sell down some equity to bring in China’s leading lithium producer, Ganfeng, as an offtake partner and an equity partner in the project. As we’ve sold down in two tranches so far we’ve built up quite a good war chest. At the end of the month it will be about $68 million Australian dollars. Now that’s far in excess of what we need to retain a prudent level of cash, so we are looking to return some of the cash to our shareholders. As we’re coming into production we want to give something that’s potentially sustainable so we’re giving back two cents a share. Then we are conducting an on-market buyback to reduce the number of shares we’ve got on issue.
Tracy Weslosky: So Chris, in addition to being a fantastic leader in the lithium market you were recently speaking at our Technology Metal Summit, and you wrote that the steak (in the lithium market) is really in a renewable energy storage, solar and wind and I’d really love for you to comment further on this idea.
Chris Reed: I think I said the steak was in renewable energy storage and the electric cars were the sizzle. In terms of the volume of lithium, you know, we see the growth in the amount of lithium battery or energy storage as a whole being really more driven from renewables as opposed to the electric car. Yes, the electric car it’s got to compete against more efficient fuel cars that we’re getting now. You’ve got the small turbocharged diesel engines and they use a fraction of the fuel they used to. We still think electric and hybrids are very, very compelling. Certainly the Chinese committing to the electrification of transport and in a very short period time going from perhaps a third of what the Americans produced last year and this year they could double or triple the electric cars sales that the U.S. do is very very positive and has caught the market in a short position …to access the complete interview, click here

Hola jerez,

Neometals (ASX:NMT) talks future metals and processing

INTERVIEWS
by Carolyn Herbert December 15, 2016 11:19 AM

Neometals Limited (ASX:NMT)

Managing Director Chris Reed discusses the company’s lithium and titanium projects and metals processing IP.

Neometals Limited (ASX:NMT) is a project developer based in Western Australia. So we have globally significant resources of lithium and titanium. What we try to do is to bring good human and financial capital to those businesses, a processing technology that can lead to lower Opex and Capex. And attract big partners in to execute our projects. We’re happy taking risk with the drill bit or in the test lab, but when it comes to the execution of monetisation, we try to bring in very strong partners. And we’ve done that certainly with the lithium project and we look to do that with the titanium project.

Mt Marion lithium project is located about 40 kilometres southwest of Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia. It currently has a JORC compliant resource of 78.8 million tonnes at 1.37 per cent lithium oxide. So we are currently commissioning the project with first exports planned for this month. We have an MoU with Mineral Resources Limited (ASX:MIN) for a downstream lithium processing plant, which we plan to locate close to Mt Marion near Kalgoorlie. We are in a stage of doing, planning a frontend engineering design. We hope to have that ready for a final investment decision in the third quarter of next year.

The Barrambie titanium project is located about 65 kilometres southeast of Meekatharra. It has a resource of about 48 million tonnes of TiO2, grading about 20 per cent TiO2. At this stage, we’ve completed a prefeasibility study on that and we’re now in the optimisation phase, before starting a DFS hopefully towards the end of next year. The technology that we are using for the Barrambie project, we’ve licensed from some Canadians. We have the exclusive rights to that. We are going to commercialise that technology with the aid of Sedgman, the engineers. So basically, Sedgman are going to introduce the technology to their clients and they get a point of the exclusive EPC Engineer, for the technology.

The company is in excellent financial shape. As of 30th September, we had about $65 million in cash on the balance sheet and listed investments of about $11 million. No debt, and cash flow commencing from the Mt Marion project, hopefully early next year. So certainly in 12 months from now, we’d like to be included in the ASX 300. That would be one of my short-term targets, to have Mt Marion operating at steady state production and looking at potentially an expansion. The longer-term horizon, we’d like to have a market cap of over $1 billion, to continue to share the money that we make with our shareholders, which is one of our important values.

Neometals Ltd (ASX: NMT) (“NMT” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce resultsfrom lithium battery cycling test work de
Neometals: Lithium Titanate Battery Test Results

monstrating the superior performance characteristics of its Lithium Titanate anode material. In 2017, the Company engaged a leading US test facility to commence 100‐cycle cycle testing of coin cell batteries using Lithium Titanate (“LTO”) anode material made by the Company at the CSIRO.
As quoted in the press release:
Lithium Titanate is a leading anode (negative electrode) material, which can replace graphite. Its primary advantage over graphite is the surface area of the anode of LTO being around 100 square metres per gram in contrast to typically 3 square metres for graphite. The enlarged surface area enables electronsto enter and leave the anode much more rapidly, leading to ultrafast recharging, enhanced battery life and enhanced safety performance (practical elimination of thermal runaway).

Neometals (ASX:NMT (http://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/ASX:NMT/Neometals-Ltd/)) has received another set of drilling results from its high-grade Barrambie Titanium Project located in Western Australia. Results are from 20 holes drilled within the titanium oxide starter pit area for the purpose of collecting samples for metallurgical testwork. Significant high-grade intercepts returned from recent metallurgical drilling included 71.0 metres at 34.1% titanium oxide and 0.86% vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole. The aim of the test work underway at Barrambie is to produce concentrates for the ‘Neomet Process’ Pilot Plant in Canada and to evaluate fast-tracking a direct shipping ore operation. Barrambie hosts one of the world’s highest grade titanium deposits with a JORC resource of 47.2 million tonnes grading 22% titanium oxide. Drill result details During the recent July quarter, 20 metallurgical testwork holes were drilled within the starter pit area. Previously, the results for only the top 40 metres of each hole were released, corresponding to the planned depth of the initial starter pits. Drill results from the total hole lengths include: - 71.0 metres at 34.1% titanium oxide and 0.86% vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole;
- 71.0 metres at 33.1% titanium oxide and 0.69% vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole;
- 71.0 metres at 32.4% titanium oxide and 0.82% vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole;
- 71.0 metres at 32.1% titanium oxide and 0.72% vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole;

- 71.0 metres at 31.9% titanium oxide and 0.59 % vanadium pentoxide from surface to end of hole. Neomet Process testing in Canada The beneficiation test work will be completed this month and the majority of the concentrates will be freighted to Neometals’ laboratory in Montreal, Canada. The concentrates will then be used to commence pilot plant testing of the Neomet Process. The Neomet Process is an extraction process that Neometals plans to licence to titanium industry partners. The company plans to commence pilot testing in the June quarter 2018 after the lithium-ion battery recycling pilot campaign, which will be commissioned in December. Direct shipping ore (DSO) operation Neometals also continues to evaluate fast-tracking the start-up of Barrambie as a DSO operation. The company has delivered a representative sample of Barrambie ore from the planned starter pits to China for evaluation by a titanium processor. If the customer performance tests of the ore are positive and logistic studies show it is viable, Neometals will negotiate the sale of ore, on terms that recognise the contained value in the ore, to selected processors in the titanium supply chain. A draft mining proposal for small operation has been lodged to cover extraction of a bulk sample of up to 50,000 tonnes.

Neometals evaluates direct shipping of titanium and vanadium

09:28 24 Jan 2018

Prices are at near five year highs due to strong demand and Chinese cutbacks.
http://static2.proactiveinvestors.com.au/thumbs/upload/Article/Image/2018_01/757z468_1516746991_Neometals-Barrambie-map.jpg The Barrambie project is in Western Australia’s mid-west region

Neometals Ltd (http://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/ASX:NMT/Neometals-Ltd/) (ASX:NMT (http://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/ASX:NMT/Neometals-Ltd/)) aims to take advantage of strong titanium and vanadium prices by evaluating direct shipping options for its Barrambie project in Western Australia.
The company has received approvals to mine a circa 50,000 tonne bulk sample of high grade titanium at Barrambie and is awaiting road transport approval.
Grade control drilling has been completed in the area proposed for mining of the sample and assays are pending.
Examining DSO options

Neometals is examining direct shipping ore (DSO) options for the high grade titanium and vanadium as an option for project development.
Chris Reed, managing director, said: “With titanium and vanadium prices at near five-year highs and recent additions to the executive team, we are accelerating technical and commercial activities for Barrambie.
“With the natural advantages of the Barrambie resource we are confident of finding the best development option.”

The project hosts one of the world’s highest grade hard rock titanium deposits and also has significant levels of high grade vanadium.
Prices are at high levels due to strong demand in energy storage and pigment markets, exacerbated by Chinese production cutbacks due to environmental compliance issues.
Barrambie titanium and vanadium resource

Barrambie has a resource of 47.2 million tonnes at 22% titanium and 0.63% vanadium and within this is a higher grade vanadium resource grading 0.91%.
Beneficiation studies have shown this zone can be upgraded to concentrate zones of 1.4% vanadium while test work is showing titanium concentrate grades in excess of 36%.
The option of DSO with a titanium focus is the primary evaluation area for Neometals and comprehensive cost modelling has been undertaken.
Sample sent to Chinese processor

A representative sample of Barrambie DSO from the planned starter pits has been received by a Chinese titanium processor with performance tests to be completed on the sample.
The company has recently appointed former Iluka and Talison executive Paul Wallwork as general manager of marketing and product development.
Together with Eileen Hao, Neometals’ general manager in China, discussions with toll treatment operators as well as titanium and vanadium end users are progressing.

This is the third dividend payment made in the past three years
Neometals Ltd (ASX:NMT) has declared a 1 cent per share unfranked dividend for its shareholders.

The company is able to continue paying a dividend due to its 13.8% ownership in the Mt Marion lithium operations near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

Mt Marion has been in production since April 2017 and sales of lithium concentrate are generating consistent cash flow for the company.

Consistent future cash flows expected

Neometals’ managing director Chris Reed said: “Neometals’ strategy of holding a globally significant mineral portfolio, de‐risking through project partnering and increasing margins via expanding output and quality of production is working well for us.

“Mt Marion is one of the world’s largest lithium producing assets and it gives us invaluable exposure to the entire lithium supply chain with a concentrate source that has been validated by converters and battery end users.

“We look forward to applying the same principles as we continue the development our lithium hydroxide, battery recycling and titanium initiatives.”

Earlier this month, Neometals collected a 53-tonne bulk sample from its Barramble Titanium Vanadium Project in Western Australia to ship to China

The sample was from the high-grade part of the deposit which has potential to be the main feed source for a potential direct shipping ore (DSO) operation.

Prospective buyers from China will next perform metallurgical test work on the bulk sample when it arrives in China.

Additional test work will also commence at an Australian laboratory to confirm Chinese results
